Central Florida - Spook Hill

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

Read about it and we had to experience this spooky hill in Lake Wales, FL 33859.

Looked like we had parked our car on a white line downhill.   And looked like the car was moving backward and uphill.     How is that possible?   Mike was smarter than Joanne & I.   He said it was an optical illusion.   And it is.

Central Florida - Florida's Natural Growers Grove House

Wednesday, 14 January 2014

There were not as much oranges trees as we saw at Bok Tower Gardens.   There were a few here outside the Florida's Natural Growers Grove House, 20160 US Hwy 27, Lake Wales, FL 33853.    We got to savor the orange, tangerine or grapefruit juices.   However we didn't purchase any of the juices or any other citrus fruits products.

Don't remember if this tree is from the Bok Tower Garden or from the Florida's Grove House.

This are tangerines.   I was good.    I didn't think of picking any!

Central Florida - Bok Tower Gardens

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

A national historic landmark - Bok Tower Gardens, 1151 Tower Blvd, Lake Walkes, FL 33859.  Entry fee $12 per person.

Orange groves, and I hope they don't mind me picking 5 pieces for our company of 3 persons.     They were sweet!

Some of the beautiful flowers that were blooming at this season:

Other plant and nice landscape:

We got to watch a live carillon performance at 1 pm, by Joey Brink, relayed to us at the viewing area.  This picture was taken after the concert

They called it the singing tower, America's Taj Mahal.   Every half an hour, there would be carillon music from the tower

This is a common sight here and there - Spanish moss.   They look eerie yet beautiful.   Took this picture at the car park.
