64th Annual Dogie Days Parade, Dumas

Saturday, 12 June 2010

Good thing, it was sunny during the parade because the evening and night saw severe thunderstorms! It was the 64th Annual Dogie Days Parade, organised by the Dumas Noon Lions Club and and the Dumas/Moore County Chamber of Commerce.

Army

Navy

Roger marched with the American Legion Color Guard

A veteran of Former War

Dumas Fire Department

Sunray Fire Department

Stacey driving the A Plus Pest Control Truck

and Robin driving the Pigeons Van

Class of '65!

The Red Hats!

A mule among the horses. A mule is an offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. I read that mules are generally more intelligent than horses.

Masked Rider - mascot of Texas Technical University

An old Ford tractor

John Deere tractors

A Farmall tractor

Doritos - tortilla chips!

The children got to collect sweets and whatever is thrown to them!

One parade participant threw coins. One was meant for me because I found it after people have left and we were walking back to our car.

I missed this event last year. It was not 'dogs' event as I have thought. I thought it was 'doggie' day! I thought people would bring their dogs to the park for some event. And being a dog lover, I looked forward to this day. Anyway, I learnt today it was hot'dogs' day. You find/buy them at the fair, at the park.

Hot'dogs' stall was not opened when we went to the fair this afternoon. Instead we got hamburgers, corn on the cob and ice cone.
